What is the Writing Center?

The Christ College Writing Center provides face-to-face and online writing assistance for all TCCNHS students, faculty, and staff. Alumni and recent graduates of TCCNHS may also access Writing Center services.

Okay, but what does that mean?

Essentially, any member of TCCNHS (student, faculty, staff, alumni, etc.) may bring any writing project (a course paper, college project, resume, scholarship application, etc.) to the Christ College Writing Center for assistance.

You can also visit the Writing Center at any stage in the Writing Process. Don’t worry if you have writer’s block and you haven’t written a thing; we’re here to help you get started, develop your writing, or even polish it for submission!

That sounds great. When and where can I get help?

Writing Center hours are posted in Blackboard, on this website, and on the bulletin board outside of the Writing Center, which is located on campus in B17-A, next to the student lounge. Hours do change by semester to best accommodate student needs and varying schedules. Typically, the Writing Center is open for face-to-face appointments and online appointments Monday-Friday.

Do I really need an appointment?

Yes! Scheduling an appointment through the online scheduler both guarantees that you will receive the help that you need and it helps the Writing Center track student data so that we can monitor student usage of the Writing Center and better address student needs. So, by scheduling an appointment, you’re helping yourself make sure that you receive the assistance you desire, you’re helping the Writing Center make sure we can accommodate you, and you’re helping your fellow/future classmates by allowing the Writing Center to make sure that we are successfully meeting student needs!

Where do I sign up?

The best way to ensure that you will have an appointment in the Writing Center is to visit our online scheduler. This scheduler is linked through the Writing Center blog and the Writing Center Blackboard page, and it is available by accessing the following URL: http://tccnhstutor.checkappointments.com/.

To get started, click on the link and sign up for an account. Then you will see a variety of options for Writing Center tutoring, Nursing tutoring, and Math tutoring. Click on the resource that you wish to utilize and then select a day and time that works for you from our calendar!
